IHA is a German non-profit association with a continuous presence in Northern Greece since more than two years. Our focus is providing material support to refugees (food, clothes, hygiene articles), we have also run community and informal education projects in the past. We are cooperating closely with grassroots projects, NGOs and local initiatives. In May this year, we have taken over operations of the central humanitarian warehouse in Northern Greece (previously operated by Help Refugees), located 20km northwest of Thessaloniki. The warehouse receives and stocks donated relief supplies (food, clothes, hygiene articles) from Greece and abroad and redistributes them to a variety of organisations and projects in the region. Furthermore, we have an emergecy response team attending to new arrivals in Thessaloniki from the Turkish border and run regular food and NFI distributions, in particular for unregistered refugees without cash assistance. We've recently opened a free shop in Lagadikia, supplying residents of the nearby camp with food and hygiene articles on a points-based system. There are plans to extend the project in Lagadikia to include community services and informal education.
