InterVolve is urgently looking for a qualified (TEFL or PGCE) and experienced long term English teacher to lead daily adult education classes and to join in with camp and urban activities outside of class time. Our much appreciated and valued long term teacher leaves next week, and are desperate to maintain stability and support through these vital classes, in these difficult times at Softex. The English classes support peoples access to life now and in the future, and in Softex they act as a consistency, a reliability and a normality which supports mental wellbeing amidst the uncertainty of every other aspect of life.
The teaching is currently Sunday to Friday 1.5 hours a day, at different levels: level 1 (Very basic) level 2 (Intermediate), with a womens only class on Friday (an additional 1.5 hrs) Aside from classes, the teacher will use some time for class planning, and support the other activities on camp as we have found this encourages participation and supports learning.
Experience in camp or refugee support settings would be helpful.
If you are interested in volunteering in this role, could commit 2 months or more, and could start before the end of July or very soon thereafter, please email Tracey at firstname.lastname@example.org urgently
